Remembrance Day:
I live in a world where I am safe and sound. I am lucky to live in this world. Not everyone has the choice to live in this world. When the soldiers fought, they dreamt of this world. They dreamt that their offspirng would live in this world, in their dreams. They dreamed of freedom, they dreamed of our freedom.
November 11th was when those soldiers that were dreaming of freedom, chanted. November 11th is when the people in North America sang, hugged, and cried. November 11th was the day we weren't born, the day we didn't see, but the day we remember.
In honor of Remembrance Day, I give you this poem, about our soldiers.
Canadian soldiers in their homes,
Watching TV like normal,
Nothing was weird, in the same tones,
Nothing was ever formal.
They heard the cries,
They heard the bells,
They heard their people die,
Remembrance Day tells:
They went off to war,
Over sea,
As far as the core,
So we could be free.
The war ended with them,
Only some came home,
They made sure they never,
Ever moaned.
People?
Not people, my life savor,
When they smile their dimples,
Did us a favor.
We asked for freedom,
They gave,
Their familes asked for them,
They visited their grave.
Remembrance Day? A day when we remember...
The ones who said to us, "There will be a way..."
Remember on this day, those who died, the ones that were killed, so the people of our generation, could live our lives with equal rights. With woman being fairly treated, not hiding in the basement. With men being fairly treated, not hiding with their wives. With the children being happy, not scared, holding onto their Mama's hand as she reads the letter their father has been killed.
Remember, it's easy.
In honor of all the soldiers, from across the world...
Thank you. <3
